Shaping a Brighter Future

At Bokoni Platinum Mines (BPM), we are more than just a mining company; we are a catalyst for progress, guided by a commitment to excellence, sustainability, and community partnership. ABOUT US

img

A Proud Heritage, A Bright Future

Bokoni Platinum Mines (BPM) is situated in the picturesque Limpopo Province, where history converges with the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Our platinum mine, located on the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex, sprawls across an impressive 15,000 hectares. It stands as South Africa's second-largest platinum group metals (PGMs) resource, firmly establishing BPM's significant presence in the industry.

Our journey has been marked by transformation and innovation. Despite facing financial challenges and a six-year period of care and maintenance, BPM's future took a positive turn in September 2022 when African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) acquired the mine from Anglo American Platinum and Atlatsa Resources Corporation. Today, ARM is the sole owner of Bokoni Platinum Mines, fully dedicated to its revival in collaboration with local communities.

A Commitment to Excellence

Revitalising our operations is a substantial undertaking, requiring specialised work and substantial investment. However, these challenges only serve to ignite our determination to pioneer an innovative approach in the industry.

At BPM, we are unwavering in our commitment to greatness, placing quality, safety, and sustainability at the core of our mission. Our journey goes beyond mere resource extraction; it is about positively impacting the lives of our exceptional employees, their families, and the communities we proudly serve.

Paving the Way to the Future

The future of Bokoni Platinum Mines holds immense promise as we embark on the ambitious mission of modernising our operations for long-term sustainability. Central to this endeavour is the upgrading of mining processes and the implementation of innovative methods that ensure the mine's longevity while creating enduring job opportunities and fostering community development.

Over the next five years, we are prepared to make significant investments to realise this vision. Our goal is not just to meet industry standards but to surpass them, setting new benchmarks. We aim to build the mine to produce 240,000 tonnes per month, recognising the vital importance of quantity in achieving the success of a platinum mine.

Our journey has already begun with early ounce production from the Middelpunt Area, the upgrade of the UG 02 Plant, and the ongoing development of Middelpunt. Our phased approach over the next three to five years will rely on specialised contractors and service providers to construct a new 240,000 tonne processing plant and sink two new declines, ensuring we meet production volumes.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY

Community at Our Heart

At Bokoni Platinum Mines, our commitment to Social Responsibility is the cornerstone of our operations. We believe in an all-inclusive approach that embraces the communities surrounding us, partners closely with tribal leaders, and collaborates with government agencies. Mining, to us, is not merely about extracting precious resources; it is about constructing sustainable partnerships and generating shared value.

We actively engage with local communities to ensure their voices are heard, and their needs are met, promoting economic growth and social well-being. Additionally, our close cooperation with tribal leaders underscores our respect and dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of the region. Our collaboration with government entities helps us navigate regulatory frameworks and contributes to regional development.

Our dedication extends to responsible environmental management, where sustainable practices are implemented to minimise our ecological footprint, safeguarding and preserving the environment for future generations. Through rigorous environmental impact assessments and ongoing monitoring, we strive to protect and conserve the environment for future generations. Our commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship is deeply ingrained in everything we do at Bokoni Platinum Mines. We are committed to local employment, local procurement, and the creation of new opportunities to foster economic growth in the region.
